A Day In The Life- Gardening Edition

So to say today was busy is an understatement. I'll get to that later, first, a tribute to our first real garden at our new home. Real as in, we actually had time to plant everything we wanted this year (for the most part)! Yay! Remember our first adventures in gardening back in 2012? No? You can review them starting here.

Basically we had a tiny plot of weeds near a lilac bush that we tilled into a garden a couple summers ago at our rental. It served us well and kept us healthy during the year but most definitely wasn't as much planning and prep as this one.

We have quite the array of veggies starting to sprout already and I can't wait to get my lettuce and jalapenos in the ground this weekend!

So far our yummy list includes:
-radishes
-onions
-carrots
-peas
-green beans
-squash
-watermelon
-zucchini
-cantaloupe
-3 kinds of tomatoes
-rosemary
-basil
-cilantro

I'm currently searching pinterest for some ideas on how to enclose our hearty growing crop, and, manageable fencing for my peas to grow onto.

There are even some tomato flowers blossoming already! (insert drool)

And how does this even happen? My "helper" ate most of the weeds I scraped away and was sucking on a corn cob from who knows where! Guess it's good for her immune system- right?

But not to worry after mommy's OB appointment, Annalise's 18 month baby well visit, shots, lunch, the park, ice cream, oil changes, mail retrieval, garden tending, bill paying, and a bath these kisses and some snuggles were well deserved.

Love you little dirt plug and can't wait to teach you more about growing your own fruits and veggies.
