21 weeks [size of a pomegranate]

Baby, fetus at 21 weeks - BabyCenter

Here's my 21 week bump.
Only 5-6 weeks left in the second trimester and a little over 18 til we meet our sweet boy!

Today we finally had our anatomy scan to check all of his organs, heart, brain, bones, etc. Unfortunately the little stinker was head down, spine up and sleeping with one leg by his head and one tucked between his legs. Needless to say, they didn't even get half the measurements they needed so I'll be having another ultrasound in 2-3 weeks.  Date TBD.

Here are a few of the shots we could get though:

Spine and back of the skull.

Right fist and forearm.

Smooshed picture of his face and right arm by his head.

While mom is measuring a week ahead, baby is measuring right on track and weighing in at 13oz or 3/4 of a pound. His heart is ticking away at 151 bpm and he's kicking up a storm most days. I love being able to feel even his slightest movements. Very different than Annalise's pregnancy because I had an anterior placenta which cushioned much of her movement until the third trimester.

So far no new stretch marks and I can still fit in my larger jeans buttoned. Now if only I could find a good pair of non-athletic shorts that fit...

Otherwise I'm feeling great, but have noticed some occasional Braxton Hicks. Doctor says that's early but normal as my body has already been through this once before and will be more sensitive to muscle spasms and contractions even after a bowel movement or getting up from the couch too fast.  Interesting.

Next appointment is June 17th but I'm sure they'll call tomorrow and discuss another ultrasound date in hopes baby will cooperate for all the appropriate measurements this time.

Fingers crossed!
Keeping growing strong little guy.
