I am now 13w1d which means we're now in the second trimester!
Baby Polkie is now the size of a peach:
He/She is growing vocal cords and teeth. And even though she's teeny tiny she has fingerprints already! Also happening this week, the start of little hairs known as lanugo that will cover baby's body and be shed some time after birth.
And me? I'm doing much better. Still occasionally feeling sick or getting sick but not as often as before. Tomorrow we have our first OB appointment and I'm hoping to get some answers about my growing belly and a variety of new symptoms. Now, instead of morning sickness I'm experiencing headaches and occasional dizziness. Everything I read says its hormone based but I've also heard it could stem from dehydration. Either way, I want a little relief or maybe a suggestion on how to cope with it I guess.
The good news is, my appetite is somewhat back though I'm still down 3-5lbs. Waiting for it to come back full force so I can enjoy some of my favorite foods again. Especially since our garden is in full swing. Maybe another couple weeks?..who knows. This pregnancy is full of surprises.
Finally, I've been taking a variety of pictures of my growing belly. Both covered and uncovered. This new shape I've taken on is totally fascinating and I'm waiting to actually start looking pregnant instead of just feeling/looking chubby. Maybe this fascination stems from the fact that I still don't feel pregnant..just like I have the flu and it won't go away. I might be in denial until we actually see baby on an ultrasound. Which, might not happen for another 5-7 weeks... :(
Here's a picture at the start of my first trimester in comparison with the second trimester. There's a difference but I'm still not impressed :P. Guess I shouldn't expect to be huge right now anyway. We are, after all, only 1/3rd of the way thru this thing.
Until next time...
