We are 15 weeks today. Only 5 more weeks until we reach our halfway point!
WOW, time flies after that first trimester.
What's Baby Polkie up to this week?
He/she is roughly the size of a navel orange, baseball, kit-kat, apple or whatever comparison you fancy. :)
-This little monkey is "cutting rug" inside mommy's tummy but she still can't feel it yet!
-Her legs are now growing longer than her arms.
-She can now grimace, frown, smile, and yawn.
-Hair is now developing on her head, eyebrows, and eyelashes!
-All joints and limbs are now mobile.
-And although baby's eyes are still sealed shut she can sense light now.
And how about Mom?
I have been doing much better. Visible blood vessels have surfaced on my breasts, stomach, and legs. I'm assuming this is due to the increase in blood my body is producing. By the time baby is born I will have gained approx. four pounds in blood alone! Crazy huh?!
I've also been trying to keep track of my weight. It was a slight concern of my physicians, at my last visit, that I was down nine pounds. Since then, I have only gained one pound of that back. I was a bit surprised because my appetite is back in full swing. Though, I suppose, baby's appetite has increased a little too.
Finally, I've been attempting various sleeping positions to obtain the best rest I can. Though, sleep has been rough the past couple weeks as temperatures warm up. Jason and I have been holding off turning the AC on because the weather hasn't been consistently warm. We have resorted to using a box fan to alleviate night sweats. Additionally, I've needed a pillow between my legs and underneath my belly for comfort. Unfortunately, that in-and-of itself is too warm!! I just can't seem to find a happy medium. Definitely something I need to figure out soon!

On a side note. We've found our nursery inspiration. My mother and I went consignment and garage sale shopping last week. Here were my purchases:
Both my Mother and I found bedding sets worth between ($100-230) that we purchased for $16! What a steal right?!
I was drawn to this particular bedding set because of the interactive nature and gender neutral tone. It came with two crib sheets, a pillow, blanket, quilt, bed skirt, and bumper. All for $16! I can't wait to see what it looks like once we have our little monkey inside the crib :).
And here are some of the outfits I purchased. "Baby's first Christmas" Jammies, a camo onesie with the hubby in mind, and Iowa Hawkeye gear. Each of the outfits was less than a dollar. Some still with tags on them!
And last, but not least....we were finally able to harvest some radishes from our garden!
Though they're pretty little, they were perfect to pop by the handful. Not too hot either! Here's to healthy snacking :).
