Well, we've made it! Another milestone and another month down. Only 5 months to go! Exactly 168 days, with 11 weeks until we're in the third trimester and 4 weeks until we're at our halfway point. Wowzers! (Not like I'm counting or anything..)
Here's what Baby Polkie is up this week:
He/she is the size of an avocado, approx. 4.5" long and 3.5-5 ounces in weight. Though I've been forewarned that we should get ready for a "growth spurt" because within the next couple weeks baby will double in weight and add several inches to his or her little body.
Also happening inside Mom's small melon of a uterus this week;
-Baby Polkie's eyes are moving frequently though still fused shut
-Lanugo (fine hair) continues to cover baby's body
-Eyelashes and eyebrows continue to fill in
-Baby's movement, "quickening," might be able to be felt by mom in the coming weeks
-Baby Polkie has started to grow toenails
-The scalp portions of baby's skull are beginning to fuse and create tiny fissures that will still be soft to the touch shortly after baby is born (Mama better drink her milk!)
And Mom?:
I celebrated both my 23rd birthday and our 4 month milestone this weekend by garage saling with my parents and dining at the Peppertree. My Mother and I both picked up some cute outfits and decorations for a fraction of what they'd probably cost in store. Between the two of us I think we spent less than $25. My Mother also purchased a "like-new" baby monitor for $5!! I think we'll probably put one on our registry so I told her to keep that one for visits or overnights. ;)
As shown in the picture above, I also whacked my hair off! Between the mix of hormones and growing tummy I've become rather warm these days so I figured it was time for a more manageable hairdo. One that would keep me cool on those 90 degree summer days. Also...where'd my "bump" go? It's like disappeared. By the end of the day it has certainly grown to great proportions but in the morning its non-existent. :( Now I just look fat again and not pregnant. Boo.
Meanwhile, Jason and I are still spatting over name selections. I think we're having a girl, though I'm drawn to boys clothing and Jason thinks we're having a boy. So...needless to say he's stuck on the name Liam (for a boy) and doesn't want to continue to make a list. I keep trying to express to him that there is surely another favorite boy name out there. We just haven't found it yet. So, the search continues and hopefully my new baby name book will give us a little guidance.
I think we're both getting a little impatient about finding out what we're having. That thrill of being able to refer to "it" as a him or her and eventually by it's name has been trying on us. Soon enough? Right?
Until next time....
