As many of you know, I had some weight loss goals I'd set back in January with "Before" pictures and everything. Well, I kind of fell off the bandwagon for a while and started gaining again.
Between the winter blues, stress eating, bronchitis, and halting work outs to handle a screaming baby I ended up going from this;
in less than two months. Here's a split shot now!
It may be hard to tell in the picture but I gained close to 12lbs!
Wasn't it my original goal to lose 10lbs? Something needed to change and not just my work out habits.
A thanks to my brother and sister-in-law for letting my husband and I borrow the "Insanity" work out series but unfortunately I found that my weak post partum body, even at 3-4 months, could not handle the intensity.
Then a friend, who happens to be a fitness/health coach offered to send me Shaun T's "Hip Hop Abs" and some Shakeology samples. If you want to follow Rachel's fitness page on facebook click here.
And if you want more information on Shakeology or any of the Team Beachbody products you can visit here.
I had tried Shakeology before and really enjoyed it, it filled me up. And was especially great for when I missed meals or was on the go at work.
I made the ultimate decision to not just "work it out" and dance my way down the 10lbs I had originally planned on but to make an overall lifestyle change. I've always been that person whose had a "portion control" problem and once I start I usually can't stop. One piece of pizza turns into six. One helping of stir fry turns into almost three and the list can go on and on. I just LOVE food. Period.
So, here I am, technically 3 months into my weight loss plan and I'm feeling great!
I have more energy, I'm in a better mood, I'm sleeping more soundly, and I'm just overall much happier.
And I still enjoy ice cream and pizza and stir fry but, in moderation. I'll have a slice or two of pizza but then also have a HUGE salad or other healthy veggie on the side.
I eat until I'm no longer hungry, not until I'm full.
I've also been adding 2-3 snacks a day between meals. This keeps my metabolism going.
Things like; a handful of almonds, or two cutie's clementines, or a handful of carrots, or an apple with peanut butter. And it helps to put these handfuls into pre-made baggies that you can just
grab-n-go with. One's like I blogged about last week.
I'm proud to say that not only have I reduced my weight, I'm gaining muscle tone back which was more important to me.
This was a month ago.
And this was today! :)
I'm still not where I want to be but I'm shocked at the change in just 4 weeks!
So I hope you'll find some inspiration and start making clean healthy eating choices as a part of your diet too.
Stay tuned as I learn more about my health and fitness choices as a new mommy.
Until next time...
