Banana break, Not Snickers break

Today''s #momlifemoment is brought to you by one of my favorite snacks...
BANANAS!!

In fact, my nickname is/was Hannah Banana. ;)

The truth is, when my husband and I first got married we lived off convenience instead of nutrient dense fresh food. Our pantry was stocked full of canned food, the freezer with steamer veggies, and the fridge with an assortment of beer, cheese, wine, and lunch meat.

I've always loved bananas but even moreso since I began having children, and, getting my hypoglycemia under control.

I'll often turn to this potassium rich snack as a means to distract my children while I'm cooking up some other food for them.

They will LITERALLY inhale them, as in, I don't think they breathe much...three bites and it's gone! Woof! So much for preoccupying them to not screech at my feet for more food.

------------

What  do I really love about bananas instead of snickers during that 2p.m. slump though? The time before I do some serious power hour activities...

-They help level my blood sugars instead of spike them
-They're a good source of manganese for brain boosting power
-A great way to boost energy
-Affordable and low in calories
-GREAT with nut butter or frozen with yogurt
-They are LOADED with potassium and iron to help with anemia
-Great for digestive health

I could go on and on really but I think you get the point. Grab a bunch of bananas for $0.50 cents a pound instead of a snickers for a couple bucks.

Healthy doesn't have to be pricey, I promise.

Until next time...
