An active 3-weeker

This little peanut is a whopping 3 weeks old now! And LOVES bath time :) (for now)
These past couple mornings we've had a few poopy blow outs so we've gone straight from the bed to the tub. It's amazing how much more breastfed babies poo than bottle fed.

I'm both thrilled and sad to see my little girl filling out. Her limbs are still fairly skinny but her cheekies and tummy are becoming much more round.

It is satisfying to know that as a first time breast feeder I'm doing my job successfully :)  We've also started introducing the bottle this past week. I appear to be the fullest in the mornings so I'll pump after she's had her fill and use the pumped milk for her evening or midnight feeding-which daddy does. I think he really enjoys this time to bond with her even during the wee hours. She has taken well to it and I am pleased that we now have it as an option when we're out in public or she isn't quite satisfied from a prior feeding. It will enable other family members and friends to bond with her while she's still so little and will be great when I finally have to head back to work full time.

She is turning into quite the character and has been most alert during the mid-morning hours between 8:00am and 11:30am. After her morning feeding she's usually quite the ham ball. Full of goofy smiles and kicking up a storm. I caught some pictures of her chatting it up with her elephant in the crib today. It was too funny.

When she sees or hears something she likes she does this goofy thing with her arms and legs like she's dancing and rolls back and forth.  We caught this goofiness on video the other morning. Check it out!

She's such a strong little booger too! She has been picking her head up and looking around for a solid week now. Doesn't quite have it mastered at tummy time but wants to really look around when you hold her on your shoulder or if she's sitting up on your lap. Pretty soon she'll want to inch worm her way right off her play mat!

We've also found a paci that she seems to really like. It is a MAM. I think it just looks adorable on her. Like a little button. :) We've been strictly using them at naptime and bedtime but occasionally when she becomes really fussy and is fighting sleep. It seems to be working well and while she enjoys sucking on it she doesn't seem dependent on it, which is a relief.

Our next milestone will be introducing overnights in her crib. I think the crib still kind of swallows her but she thoroughly enjoys all the bright colors and sounds from the mobile.  I've started laying her in it while I fold laundry in her room or get some cleaning done. She is usually pretty content. The hardest part will be putting her in her own space instead of sharing ours.
She currently sleeps in a bassinet at the foot of our bed and seems to really enjoy it. It has been convenient for late night feedings but I know we'll have to start transitioning her to her crib while she's still getting into a bedtime routine. It'll be easier on all of us in the long run if we do that the month before I head back to work.

One thing at a time. For now, we'll savor hearing these goofy snoring noises while she sleeps at our bedside.

Think she's going to be a chatty little girl? haha.
