A Spring-Like Sunday

Happy Sunday!  It's been a grueling week of final exams and papers.  Though I came home early for some personal time I was still able to get the schoolwork accomplished that I needed to.  Now its Spring Break until April 4th...so that means sleeping in, wedding planning and much needed time with family and friends.

First on my break's agenda was discerning which color and type of flowers I wanted for the wedding.  The list, though lengthy, has come down to "red gold" roses, red, yellow, and orange sunflowers, red dahlias, blue delphinium, blue bachelor buttons, baby's breath, green mums, green hydrangeas, orange and yellow chrysanthemums, green bells of Ireland and various other wild flowers.  Since it will be summer time were anticipating using any bright yellow, orange, and red flowers we can.

After narrowing down choices, Mom and I decided to play around with centerpiece ideas (still holding to our outdoorsy theme).  Here is the result:

Were thinking of prearranging potted plants ourselves and then just carrying them over the day of.  In addition to the flowers/vines in the pots there will be one small silver solar walkway light submerged in the pot.  The lights we found were crystallized so they should emit more light than a typical candle and shatter out on the mirrors.  Petals on the table with crystal beads will complete the simplistic look.We were quite pleased with how it turned out and it almost reminded us of decorations at an outdoor cafe. :)

Next, we decided to experiment with ceremony flower decorations.  Below is the result.

These jars will be filled with wood chips and wild flowers, then hung with tulle from sheppard hooks down the isle.  These by far are my favorites so far.  Aren't the jars just so adorable?

Next on the agenda:

1) Assembling ceremony programs
2) A second dress fitting
3) Cake tasting
4) Purchasing jewelry and a headpiece
5) Getting jars and pots prepped

Hopefully we'll get these things done before I take off back to Grinnell.  In the meantime, get outside and enjoy the weather! Ciao :)
